Kon
(strategies) are advanced muaythai
techniques used to defend (kon
kae) and attack (kon
jujom), classified according to the weapon of
choice (fists, knees, elbows and feet). Kon are classified
as follows: Kon jujom (attack): 23 strategies Kon kae tao (feet): 23 strategies Kon kae kao (knees): 3 stratgies Kon kae matt (punches): 29 strategies Kon kae sok (elbows): 4 strategies Together with cherng muay (combinations of all bodily weapons) they represent the plethora of advanced techniques a nak muay has to master before entering the ring. As Thai boxing evolves itself, some of these advanced techniques are now obsolete and hard to see. Some did vanished together with the ajaarn who created and taught them.
